Dr. Karen Lipovsky
Dr. Karen Lipovsky

Dr. Lipovsky grew up in Maryland and majored in Biology at St. Mary’s College. After graduation, she worked first as a veterinary technician, then worked for about 10 years at NIH as a lab Biologist. Wanting to get back into small animal care, she went back to school and earned her degree in Veterinary Medicine at VA-MD School of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA.

She, her husband, 3 dogs, and 3 cats moved to Maine about 15 years ago and have discovered all the beautiful outdoor opportunities here, kayaking, skiing, and running on the country roads. Community theater and singing are also favorite activities. The older 6 pets are no longer at home, but Gretel and George, a lively pair of Great Danes, occupy plenty of her attention (and space!).

Krystle
Krystle

CSR

Krystle grew up right here in Maine and has always had a love of animals. Her nurturing disposition provides our patients with the compassionate care they deserve. Always a loving spirit, Krystle’s desire to help animals in need grew after becoming a mother herself. Her furry family consists of two Beagles, Neena and Nala, and an Australian Cattle Red Heeler, Addy. They also have chickens and ducks at home! When she isn’t at the clinic, Krystle enjoys spending time with her husband and son, either at home or on an adventure in the great outdoors.

Mary
Mary

Technician

Mary joined Garland Road in June 2020. She was born and raised in Central Maine but decided to move to South Florida to attend college. She moved back to Maine last summer to join us here! Mary grew up with a black lab named Emma, along with many rabbits and guinea pigs as well as two Nigerian dwarf goats named Charm and Owen. Mary received her veterinary technology degree from St. Petersburg College in St. Pete, FL, and began her career at a small animal hospital there. Her favorite thing about working in veterinary medicine is acting as the voice for animals who don’t have the ability to speak for themselves and tell us when they are in need of help.

Brittney
Brittney

Brittney grew up in a small town in western Pennsylvania and has always wanted to work in animal care. All her work experiences have been focused on that passion. In 2015, she graduated from Unity College with a degree in Captive Wildlife Care and Education. She then traveled the country, working with exotic animals such as bears, alligators, snakes, and musk ox in zoos, a sanctuary, and on a farm. She returned to Maine to marry her best friend and worked at a local animal shelter for several years. She wanted to return to working with people and animals in our community and stumbled on Garland Road Small Animal Hospital.

She and her husband share their home with Tank, a pittie who was seized as part of a hoarding case; Westley, a cat that has been with Brittney since college, and Colton, a fish who loves to eat bugs, worms, and grubs!

In her free time, she works with her husband on a small homestead/farm. She enjoys gardening, raising animals, growing/propagating succulents, foraging, hunting, fishing, animal enrichment, creating paintings with animal footprints, and exploring Maine.

Jess
Jess

LVT

Jess has dedicated her career to the care and treatment of animals. Having grown up moving around the United States, Jess finally settled in the Central Maine area in 2020 after spending eight years working in emergency veterinary medicine in Southern Maine.

After arriving in the Central Maine area, Jess began working at Garland Road Small Animal Hospital. She received her Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology from the University of Maine at Augusta in 2010 and her Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Science in 2014. Her passion for animals started at a young age and has only grown over the years.

Outside of her work in veterinary medicine, Jess runs a small farm where she keeps a wide variety of animals, including four dogs, five cats, three cattle, three sheep, one goat, and numerous chickens and ducks. Her beloved steer, Fergus, holds a special place in her heart. In addition to her busy professional life and farm responsibilities, Jess is a devoted mother to her six-year-old daughter and, if she’s honest- doesn’t have much free time.
